Logistics centre clearance system

In 2004, a new logistics centre was opened in Zdiby near Prague. It is the largest VF logistics centre for the EMEA region. Worldwide, VF is a leader in branded clothing, employs over 50,000 people and is available in more than 150 countries.

Saves not only time but also the environment

Drivers park in front of the ramps when they arrive at the site. Registration for the system takes place in the dispatchers’ office. Here, the necessary documents are handed over and the dispatcher enters the necessary information into the check-in system. A ticket with a serial number and barcode is printed from the system and given to the driver. The warehousemen have touch-screen PCs at each of the 4-5 ramps. They can see the individual clients on these and can call them up for check-in at the required ramp. Navigation to the check-in point is handled by 4 outdoor large format displays. Each ramp is also equipped with a display to show the serial number and occupancy. A beacon is located on the inside to indicate when a truck has entered the ramp by activating the IR barrier. The warehouseman then knows that the truck is already in place and can open the gate and start the check-in process. Once the check-in is complete, the warehouseman releases the ramp in the app and the driver leaves. The dispatcher receives the necessary documents and by reading the barcode from the ticket, the gate is opened and the carrier can leave the premises.

Seasonal peaks are no longer a problem

After deploying the solution, the navigation to the check-in point and the check-in itself became faster. Even in peak seasons, no major delays or complications arise thanks to the call system. After successful testing of the system in practice on a part of the logistics centre, it was extended to the whole area.
