KLAUS Timber, Inc.
Convenient processing, precise navigation, and savings in time and resources
KLAUS Timber a.s. operates in the wooden packaging market. The company uses its own truck fleet to transport all products, while trucks from customers and suppliers also enter the facility. The QTir handling system was designed and customized to meet demanding requirements and has become an indispensable part of the logistics processes at the newly built facility.

All Check-in Steps Under Control
The QTir clearance system continuously retrieves information about scheduled shipments from the customer’s internal system. Upon entering the Dvorec facility, the license plates of all arriving vehicles are recognized by a camera. Vehicles are admitted to the premises based on license plate identification and verification of entry authorization by the QTir system. Truck drivers from external carriers register their shipments at an outdoor self-service kiosk with a touchscreen. Handlers in the warehouses immediately receive information about registered shipments and, using a tablet with the QTir app, call individual shipments to specific loading docks for processing. The call is made via an SMS message sent to the truck driver’s cell phone. Passage through the main gate is automated. An intercom is installed for any further communication between the driver and the control room. Handlers at the loading docks not only process shipments using a tablet with the QTir app but can also register them. During the check-in process, photos of the loading process are taken with the tablet and stored in the QTir system under the respective shipment for further processing and potential future verification. Using tablets with QTir, operators also have direct access to current shipment documents—particularly the loading list—from their forklifts, which they use to carry out the loading process. The departure of vehicles from the premises is again automated; the gate opens based on the license plate number being scanned.

An efficient and intelligent shipping system with customized solutions.

Automating shipping improves convenience for everyone involved
The system has resulted in cost and time savings, automated and streamlined the individual steps of product shipping, and minimized unnecessary interaction between truck drivers and shipping staff. The QTir system very quickly became an integral part of automated shipping management.
