Comfortable check-in, precise orientation, saving time and money

KLAUS Timber a.s. operates in the wooden packaging market. They use their own trucks to transport all products, while at the same time trucks of customers and suppliers enter the premises. The QTir check-in system was designed and adapted to the demanding requirements and has become an indispensable part of the logistics processes in the newly built facility.

All check-in steps under control

The QTir check-in system continuously retrieves information about announced shipments from the customer’s internal system. At the entrance to the Dvorec site, the license plates of all arriving vehicles are detected by means of a camera. Vehicles are admitted to the premises based on vehicle identification by license plate number and verification of entry eligibility by the QTir system. Truck drivers of external haulers register their transport on an outdoor self-service kiosk with a touch screen. The information about the registered transports is immediately available to the handlers on the halls and they use a tablet with the QTir app to call up individual transports for check-in at specific check-in ramps. The recall is done via an SMS message sent to the truck driver’s mobile phone. Passage through the main gate is automated. An intercom is installed for any further communication between the driver and the headquarters. Handlers at the check-in ramps not only check-in the transports using a tablet with the QTir app, but can also register the transports. During the check-in process, photos of the loading process are taken by the tablet and stored in the QTir system for the transport for further processing and for possible later checking. The QTir tablets also give the handlers on the forklift trucks access to the actual documents of the shipment, in particular the loading list according to which they carry out the loading. The departure of vehicles from the premises is again automated, the barrier is opened based on the reading of the number plate.

The system has saved resources and time, automated and streamlined the individual steps of product dispatching and minimised unnecessary interaction between truck drivers and dispatch staff. QTir quickly became an integral part of automated dispatch management.
